The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas are proud to serve about 480,000 people in Arkansas and surrounding states by providing them with reliable and affordable electricity to power their homes, businesses and farms. We are member-owned and democratically controlled businesses with service areas that cover more than 60 percent of Arkansas' land area. We also serve members in 74 of the state’s 75 counties.
Seventeen electric distribution cooperatives provide retail electricity to the state.
Those cooperatives own two other cooperatives - Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., (AECI),
a statewide association providing various services to the electric distribution cooperatives, and Arkansas Electric Cooperative
Corp. (AECC), a supplier of wholesale electricity. The distribution cooperatives, along with AECI and AECC, are known collectively as the
Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.
In addition to providing our members with electricity, we work hard in our communities to enhance the quality of life. We work with state,
city and business leaders to bring new industry and business to the state. We also support and help build rural water and fire programs, as well
as support the improvement of the state's highways. In addition, we are active in legislative and regulatory arenas in an effort to make sure
that the consumer always comes first. We are consumer advocates because we are owned by consumers - the members that we serve.
